Healthily is collaborating with the Heart Foundation and the Royal Melbourne Hospital to produce a new Speaking From Experience title, ‘Younger People and Heart Surgery’.
Cardiovascular disease is a major cause of death in Australia, and is generally perceived to affect older people. Heart disease in people over the age of 30 is surprisingly common, and brings a specific set of challenges.
This production explores these challenges and presents personal experiences of the physical and emotional impact of open heart surgery.
We also present a carer’s perspective, who describes the practical and emotional support he gave his partner before and after surgery.
Due for release on GoShare early 2017, this title is a new addition to the cardiac topics in our large and growing library of patient and carer experiences.
